• SAN FRANCISCO BANS EVERYTHING

    - San Francisco Is North Korea with a tech industry

    - All of the intelligent people have now left San Francisco and only losers, stupid soyboys and douche-bags are left there

  • Daniel Greenfield
    50

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical left and Islamic terrorism

Here are a few things that are effectively legal in San Francisco: drugs, public defecation and shoplifting. And here are some of the things that are banned or will be banned in the City by the Bay.

Straws. Fur coats. Bottled water. Eating at work. Vaping liquids. Upholstered furniture. Plastic bags. Petstores. Electric scooters. Coffee cups and packing peanuts. Tropical fish. The McDonald’s Happy Meal.

If you can think of something, San Francisco has already banned it. Or will be banning it soon.

North Korea with a tech industry and some leftover Victorian architecture (which it’s banning tour buses from visiting) has reacted to the collapse of living conditions and fleeing tourists by banning everything.

Everything except the behavior that’s making San Francisco unlivable.

During the Gold Rush, legend had it that the streets of San Francisco were paved with gold. These days they’re layered with human waste after the socialist city legalized public urination and defecation. A bag of 20 pounds of human waste was deposited on the street. Urine corroded a pole so badly that it fell on a car almost killing the driver. But don’t think that you can get away with anything in San Francisco.

San Francisco decriminalized public defecation, but criminalized plastic straws. While bench warrants for public urination are discarded, the straw fines are real and expensive. A California statewide bill goes further with a threat of six months in the county jail for giving a man a straw. When drugs are legal and straws aren’t, the Mexican cartels will soon switch to smuggling drinking straws into California.

Why ban straws? Because straws, according to the San Francisco ordinance, “may threaten public health” and are bad for the environment? Piles of human waste in the street are great for public health and the environment. But a Chicago medical association disagreed and cancelled its planned conference.

When Chicago thinks your city is dirty and dangerous hellhole, you really have a problem.

But America’s greatest experiment with socialism is coping with its collapse by banning everything. The straw ban isn't the last straw. It’s one of a series of San Fran bans that would make Kim Jong-un wince.

The straw ban was the brainchild of Supervisor Katy Tang. Katy was excused from the straw vote because she had to take her bar exam. She had previously won a proposal to ban sales of fur coats. In her press release, Katy noted that, "fur farming contributes to water and air pollution" because each mink produces "44 pounds of feces in the mink’s lifetime."

The press release doesn’t state how many pounds the Board of Supervisors produces a year. Or how much the homeless population that San Francisco’s insane government has cultivated does.

Statistically speaking, Katy Tang would be personally responsible for around 342 pounds of waste a year. Or 7 times more than a mink could manage over its entire existence. The entire Board of Supervisors, which in true Stalinist style votes 11-0 on its insane bans (except when Katy has to take an exam), would directly account for around 3,700 pounds of waste. Or worse than an entire mink farm.

But that’s not accounting for the true legacy of the Board of Supervisors.

The homeless population of San Francisco increased by around 1,000 in six years. Complaints about human waste rose from 5,685 in 2011 to 18,211 in 2016. A 1,000 increase would mean an extra 342,000 pounds of human waste. San Francisco pols clamored that all the mink farms in this country produce a million pounds of waste a year. The homeless population that they cultivated does that in only a few months with an estimated annual output of well over 2 million pounds.

Mink are rabid, deranged animals that bite everything in sight. But millions of them running loose around Frisco would still do less damage than the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

San Francisco’s budget topped $11 billion for the first time. An increase of almost a billion. Annual spending on the homeless is expected to rise to over $300 million.

None of this would be possible without the tech industry that the city is trying to alienate. And if North Korea with a tech industry loses the dot com firms that feed its tax base, it’ll just be North Korea.

And it’s working hard to make that happen.

Another brilliant ban from the board brains would outlaw new workplace cafeterias.

“You can’t have an industrial kitchen in your office building,” declared Supervisor Aaron Peskin, who along with Supervisor Ahsha Safai, was one of the geniuses behind the idea.

When workers eat in cafeterias, it deprives the restaurateurs of customers. The same lefties who banned straws because of their environmental impact, want to mandate the existence of a thousand restaurants, which were formerly serving those straws, without regard to their environmental impact.

What’s the environmental impact of a straw or an employee taking an Uber for lunch? It’s as disproportionate as the environment impacts of Katy Tang, Aaron Peskin and Ahsha Safai compared to a thousand minks whose senseless aggression is at least the product of instinct, not leftist ideology.

But the great hand of socialism gives and takes away. It just doesn’t make any sense while it’s doing so.

Once the decree passes, the only people entitled to a free lunch in San Francisco will be the same ones defecating on the street. But the workers who actually subsidize the mess aren’t allowed a free lunch.

Socialism will offer you a free lunch. But not if you pay taxes and use the bathroom.

"I urge the Board to focus on making our streets safe. Perhaps then, workers would feel better about leaving their workplace for lunch without having to actively dodge tent camps, human feces, and needles," one San Francisco letter writer suggested.

But that runs contrary to the entire philosophy that turned San Fran into an overtaxed and overregulated public sewer where every problem is solved with a new ban.

“It’s more heavily regulated than the water you’re getting in bottles," a senior advisor to the mayor's office insisted of San Francisco's water in defense of a water bottle ban.

But not everybody wants more regulated water. Some people just want the water that they want.

And the vaping liquids, the goldfish, the upholstered furniture, the plastic bags, fur coats and coffee cups of their choice. Some people just want to drink their bottled water through a straw. They want to wear a fur coat while shopping for tropical fish and upholstered furniture. And then light up a cigarette.

There’s no room for that attitude in San Francisco where each social problem is met with a new ban.

Are restaurants unhappy about the bans on coffee cups, foam containers and straws? Just ban workplace cafeterias to drive customers to them. Are workers and companies fleeing San Fran? Put up a wall made of recycled waste and trash topped with armed homeless encampments to keep them from escaping. Then direct the survivors to eat out at the strawless, coffee-cup less, salt-less and sugar-free vegan restaurant of their mandated choice offering tasteless meals with no more than 40 calories.

It worked for North Korea. It’s bound to work for San Francisco.

Block children, elderly, or even someone who just walked out of the dentist office from using a straw, but hand out syringes like candy.

What is a syringe? More plastic than a straw. A dangerous complex plastic straw with a sharp needle covered with disease ridden blood and other human flesh, blood and fluid.

Yes the syringes are not only being supported in manufacture and purchase, but handed out, versus taking away a straw from someone who had a stroke.

If California DID separate into 3 territories, San Fran would never survive and be left with an apocalyptic city you only see in the movies. But then they get what they voted for.

I remember back during the Cold War... Something strange would happen in San Francisco... The Soviets would report it in their controlled press... And even jaded Soviet Commies would be astonished. “Perhaps there’s something in the water...” was a common comment.

The SF Bay Area was my first stop in the US when I visited in Feb, 1980. I fell in love with the place, lived there for a few years on and off till the crack ni qqer / lefturd democrap created problems, were too much by the end of 1987 and moved to Marin County, then the east bay's Richmond Hills.

By the end of 1998 I'd had enough; I'd seen the area transformed into a true $ hithole. I can't even envisage what it must be like for the sane people today who are forced to stay there.

Just for the fun of it, I bought a box of plastic straws, a couple of days, ago. I've since mailed a few of them to the San Francisco City Hall. I encourage everyone to do the same!

San Francisco logic: Drinking straws are horrible, used hypodermic needles are okay.

The anarcho-tyranny practiced by the modern left makes as much sense as the bizarre ramblings of an unmedicated schizophrenic.

I've got a beautiful wife of 44 years that is diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Most of her life, it has been under control (it helps to have people who understand and support her). She was an RN for most of our marriage, and still has her credentials. The following is told with her permission:

Unmedicated schizophrenic? Not a pretty sight. I've seen her have two "breaks", during our marriage. Now, think of the Left when I describe the following.

She had already been taken to the hospital, and was in the "Psych Wing", when suddenly (as it was related to me), she attacked another patient. She was struggling so violently, that she had to be heavily sedated, after being put into what I call "the Chair of Rage".

The next morning, I came in to visit her. Normally, visits were no longer than 1/2 hour, in the day room. But I spent 3 hours with her in her room. She was very angry, and also desperate. She was convinced that the nurses were going to sell her into se*ual slavery in the Middle East, the next day, and she demanded that I "b*st her out", that night. However, by evening, her new medication regime had kicked in and she was no longer psychotic.

Not pretty, was it? And the Left is "Disorganized Psychosis", in my estimation. My wife had demanded that I commit a crime by breaking her out of the hospital, in the middle of the night. Is the Left less psychotic than that?

Thank you for sharing your story as I think it will help everyone to understand mental illness somewhat better.
I have known a few people over the years that have had a form of schizophrenia. So long as they are able to maintain their medications and any counseling they may go to, they seem to deal with life pretty well, under the circumstances. Like you said, it is either when they are off their medications for whatever reason, or those medications are no longer providing the help they once did that the situation can become difficult.
That is the problem for many of the homeless. They have no support system and once they are off their medications, or they are trying to self-medicate with illegal drugs, it creates some very difficult situations.
That was one of the things I definitely disagreed with Reagan, when he shutdown the federally funded mental health hospitals, dumping thousands out into the streets that could not care for themselves under those kinds of conditions.
Mental health is something that needs more attention in this country, as it leads to other problems if not dealt with in the long run.

Like I said, most of her adult life, she has worked as an RN. She has good doctors, and a support system.

Those who live on the street do not have this system. One of my wife's meds, alone, costs $3,000 per month.

Her pain meds, if it weren't for medi care taking up the slack, would have broken us years ago. But if she doesn't have it her life would be even more restricted than it is now. On top of that she suffers with diabetes and that medication on top of the rest. It isn't a fun world we live in, but through His grace, we get through it day by day.

Reagan did not shut down mental hospitals. Lawyers from the ACLU sued on behalf of mental patients for their civil right not to be incarcerated in mental hospitals for their entire life. The lawsuit started during Jimmy Carter’s presidency and eventually went to the Supreme Court. The court agreed and all of the long term mental institutions in the USA were phased out. President Reagan had nothing to do with it.

Seems there is more to it then either of us mentioned:
1946 - Congress passed the National Mental Health Act. It created the National Institute of Mental Health in 1949. The Institute researched ways to treat mental health in the community.

1954 - The Food and Drug Administration approved Thorazine, known generically as chlorpromazine, to treat psychotic episodes. The only other treatments available at the time were electroshock therapy and lobotomies. There were only 7,000 psychiatrists, 13,500 psychologists, and 20,000 social workers in the entire country.

1961 - The commission published its findings in Action for Mental Health. It recommended that community health centers be set up to treat those with less severe mental illnesses. The American Psychological
Association’s paper, “Recognition and Prevention of Major Mental and Substance Use Disorders,” said the commission’s research estimated that 20 percent of the population suffered from some form of mental illness and distress. It focused on treating these disorders to prevent them from becoming more severe.

1963 - President John F. Kennedy signed the Community Mental Health Centers Construction Act. It provided federal funding to create community-based mental health facilities. They would provide prevention, early treatment, and ongoing care. The goal was
to build one for every 125,000 to 250,000 people. That many centers would allow patients to remain close to their families and be integrated into society. But it ignored statistics that showed 75 percent of those in hospitals had no families.
1965 - President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Social Security
Amendments of 1965. It created Medicaid to fund health care for low-income families. It did not pay for care in mental hospitals. As a result, states transferred those patients into nursing homes and hospitals to receive federal funding.
1967 - California's Governor Ronald Reagan signed the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act. It limited a family's right to commit a mentally ill relative without the right to due process. It also reduced the state's
institutional expense. That doubled the number of mentally ill people
in California's criminal justice system the following year. It
also increased the number treated by hospital emergency rooms. Medicaid covered those costs. Other states followed with similar involuntary commitment laws.

1980 - President Jimmy Carter signed the Mental Health
Systems Act to fund more community health centers. But it focused on a
broad range of a community's mental health needs. That lessened the federal government's focus on meeting the needs those with chronic mental illness.

1981 - President Reagan repealed the Act through the Omnibus
Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981. It shifted funding to the state
through block grants. The grant process meant that community mental health centers competed with other public needs. Programs like housing, food banks, and economic development often won the federal funds instead.

1990 - The Food and Drug Administration approved clozapine to
treat the symptoms of schizophrenia. That strengthened the prejudice against hospitalization of the mentally ill.

Many times I refer to the insanity of the Left (Read Marxist/Communists) but that is a general statement as it is easier to refer to them in that regard then it is to say what the problem really is, which is demonic possession. That is why they act the way that they do, as they have through one means or another become demonically possessed. It goes far beyond any mental illness.

Having seen some of the video clips of her outbursts, I would have to say it is closer to demonic possession then just a case of mental illness. Mainly, it is because of how she wants to see violence done to anyone disagreeing with her and her vision, which is pretty extreme even for the Marxist/Communists. Not very many of her fellow Dhimmicrats are speaking out to either support her or to oppose her, so it is an indication that even they do not want anything to do with her. That is another indication of demonic possession.

Calling the Left "insane " lets them off the hook in a way. By "theraputizing" evil, we absolve them of their own responsibilty for their behaviour by reducing it to a potentially curable and manageable health issue.

            It's not. It's a choice.

Pretty soon they'll ban the city, and then they'll all move to Bezerkeley and start the same process there, which is already well under way.

What San Franfeces needs to do is put the plastic straws in plastic water bottles, fill them with concrete and build a seawall for when the oceans rise after Greenland melts.

ALL forms of socialism reject basic aspects of human nature AND key operative principles of the external reality within which we all exist. Thus all forms of socialism are ultimately unsustainable. Which leads to ever greater coercion to keep the failed system going. Ergo; eventually all thought, speech and behavior is declared to be either forbidden or mandatory.

As sanitary conditions in SF continue to deteriorate, I would think bottled water will soon be in high demand. It's only a matter of time before we see National Guard and Red Cross trucks delivering bottled water just like we see after a hurricane or other natural disasters, not to be confused with a man-made disaster.

The inescapable result of Leftist polices.

If you have enough actual and social capital etc. it can take a considerable amount of time for Lefty policies to ruin things.

    But it always happens.

Watching it happen to San Fran and other CA cities is a shame, but as they say elections have consequences. The people that live there voted in their own slow suicide.

Seems like SF is working hard to solve their affordable housing problem by putting such a stench on all things SF. The goal is to collapse the housing market, thus bring about affordable housing.

While I say this sarcastically, never underestimate the power of stupid.

  • I've decided to stay and fight for California. (whatever)

submitted 14 hours ago by MyNameIsMud

I have been planning to move out of this shitty state as soon as I can, preferably somewhere like Nevada, Idaho, or Montana. But now I think I am going to stay and try to fight for my state. If ICE can keep deporting beaners, and fags and niggers keep killing each other with AIDS and bullets, then eventually we will have a chance at taking this magnificent state back. I've found a large piece of land in the mountains that I am going to buy and use to establish my life and home base here in California. With Hollywood pedos being outed left and right I think we can get rid of quite a few jews too. It there are other white people on the fence about leaving, stay. Stay and fight with me to make California a laughing stock or the nation no more!

Also, Patrick Little for president 2020!

I’m also In California, but I’m not staying. I hope this pile of shit state burns with everyone in it. Fuck all the celebs, fuck the Mexicans and the politicians. Fuck this 118 degree weather and fuck paying 260 a month to water my lawn because if I don’t keep it green the HOA will boot me out or fine me. (Water shortage doesn’t seem to mean I get to not water my lawn... what the fuck?) Fuck this entire state to death.

Good luck to you buddy, this state cannot be saved. I live next to an elementary school and middle school. I shit you not people when school is out I see the kids walking home. One white kid is the most I have ever seen, on my life. It’s all Mexicans. California is Mexico now.

Silly. It is important to concentrate forces if readily available resources are available. This is common military knowledge. Don't fall for the "protect everyone a little bit" philosophy. COncentrating at Richmond with all the CSA armies under R. E. Lee would have created a possibility for victory, where everyone trying really hard in their own backyard resulted in a loss to the Yankee invaders. Leave the high theft states, come where we let you keep more resources, and help us fight the influx of the left and illegals who are infiltrating. If you lose us, you lose the war. Losing Texas would be akin to Sayler's Creek.

Anything we can we do from the other 49 states to help? We kinda feel like we gotta partition Cali off. E.g., bar it's reps from Congress since they no longer represent Americans. We'd rather not lose the state but we can't have it metastasizing either.

It's too late. California is one of those states that that has poured cement around its feet from the massive benefits that democrats promised to government workers to buy their votes and the measly amount of money actually put into the state pension fund. California's doom is already sealed. There is no hope until the state declares bankruptcy and is allowed to write down all the horseshit liabilities owed to retired government workers just like Detroit had to do.

Move to Arizona/Nevada/Montana and come back when state declares bankruptcy

There's no fixing it until the state declares bankruptcy, only then can the state tear up and renegotiate the shitty deals they signed with the government employee unions. Until then, staying in CA is just feeding the beast.

Am near the beach in middle California, and the weather here is ideal. 60% white, under 2% black, with mexicans and other making up the remainder. Not the greatest demographics, but I'm personally not moving to some hell hole, just to be around the kind of white people who would live in a hell hole. There's no other place to go that wouldn't be a huge downgrade, so I'm not going unless things get dire.

It's definitely not the place to be if you're an employee, unless you've got some special deal. The features and characteristics make it one of the most expensive places in the world. Then again, a person with smarts can set their own price here.

Keep in mind that in California as a whole, there were more Trump voters than the entire combined populations of 27 states.

Note: If your land has a house on it, you'll want to clear brush and trees and take other measures to ensure it doesn't burn in a wild fire. For you non-Californians, it doesn't rain here between April and November, roughly.
